Event Cards
Explained
We had fun creating quirky cards. This is the light-hearted nature of this game. Take a break from the serious world for a bit and enjoy Montana simplicity..
-Regular Cards- Designed to use immediately then placed on the bottom of the pile.
Rodeo - To qualify for the Rodeo, you need stay on the bull for 8 seconds or more. If you roll an 8 or more - you got in! Collect $200 from the bank.
You are so poor you sell your cat. I know that you love your cat but when things are bad…. well… Collect $100 from the bank.
Heinz Lawyer rewrite laws - Yes, one of the Copper Kings got their power by buying worthless neighboring mines and rewriting mining laws so the veins of ore were legally theirs. This card allows you to immediately teleport the token on the Event space to any mine that is not owned and has a Title on its surface. If none exist, just keep the token where it is.
You sold your cowboy boots- Simply collect $300 for your stinky imaginary boots.
Governor Meagan Disappears - The first Governor of Montana walked onto a steamboat on the Missouri River and was never seen again. You must decide to either pay $50 to the bank or move the token on the Event space back to the Start.
Your Shift Discovers a vein- At the end of your turn roll both dice again and move tokens accordingly.
Last Best Place - Immediately take the token furthest from the Finish but on the board, (not in the mines, but start is fine) and move it so that it is stacked together with the next to last token.
Bulldozers demolish the east side of town -Simply pay $50 to the bank.
“Sometimes, when things get bad- Simply collect $200 from the bank and return the card. And... remember this quote for a rainy day in life.
You were finally discovered as an opera singer - People in the late 1800s were really into opera and … apparently you are too. Collect $200 and then return to the pile.
Never cut what you can untie- Cowboy poets like to take an everyday issue and spin them into a life hack. If you have been robbed recently, tell the robber to arrange their mining chips and choose one. If you have not been robbed do not rob anyone due to this card. Place card on the bottom of the pile afterwards.
Shootout - Yes you must interact with another human… but that’s what life’s about. All players pair up and play Rock/ Paper/ Scissors. If you don’t know the rules look them up. The winner gets $200 from the bank.
- Tickets- Designed to be picked up for later use when then you need it. Use once and then return to the bottom of the pile.
You now have the tunnel keys: Once you land on any tunnel, there is no need to roll the dice to see if you can pass to an exit - just present this card and you can head on through. As always, once on the exit wait for the next turn to move off of it. Yes you can bump another player on the exit and entrance of tunnel. Tunnel movement is usually the last step in your turn.
Never. say woah in a tight spot: I’m unsure of this truism, but it depends on how fast one thinks, I suppose. Anyway, keep this ticket to use when you really need a certain dice outcome and you want to re-roll. It can be used on two or one dice rolls, cave-ins and movement - but not on the Plummers square. The re-roll sticks though so be happy with that outcome.
Evil Knievel rides again: ( A famous stunt performer from Butte) Use at any time to jump to the next mining entry head frame. It can be used to bump another player or to just enter the mining district. The rest of your turn is unchanged. Use once and return to the pile.
The Copper Kings are at War: Actually the 3 kings were always after each other In the early 1900s, but deciding the location of the capital was a doozey. Save this ticket for anytime in your turn when you need to head to the safety square where nobody can bump you. Use it once and return to the pile
You are a friend of Mr. Clarke: Keep this ticket handy for when someone attempts to rob a green or blue mining chip from you. Present it after the opponent lands on your token and asks you to present the chips. Use once then discard into the pile.
Bank Robbery: Keep the ticket for an opportune time. At the end of your turn, present this ticket to any player and announce that you plan to rob them of one chip. You do not need to land nor bump the poor person. There is only one of these cards in the pile. Follow the usual procedure for robbing. This can not be used for a player who has all tokens already into finish. Return to the bottom of the pile.
Fearlessness is not the lack of fear - Sometimes people get ahead of themselves. Keep for the opportune time. The ticket allows you to move backwards essentially.. Move the token nearest to the ladder to any mine that is there for the taking - or to your own mine that remains unfinished.
